Reflections

Art is like a mirror which reflects the society, culture and technology at that time. Artistic activity is a game, whose forms, patterns and functions develop and evolve according to periods and social contexts ( Bourriaud, 2002). Back to the ancient time,  people used to use coals to draw in the cave. For hundreds of years, we used sculptures and paintings to represent the image of Gods. Now, we use multi-media to create artworks. Art is developing along with our society, culture and technology. We can see the culture through the artworks from the certain period of time in the history. Art could also be used to reflect social problems in order to increase people's awareness. The arts can be a valuable engine of civic renewal (Seminar, n.d.). I assume if art has that social power, I could also make an artwork which could be used to increase people's awareness for the certain social problem.
