Cinematic Flanuer - Conceptual Statement

Our main concept for this project is using the dog’s point of view to explore the city. As the most popular pet, there are a large number of dog are living in the city, they are also a part of the city. When people is walking a dog, normally we can’t see what the dog is looking at,  or what the dog is interested. We can have a different view of the city different form the normally way we do. When we are seeing something, we are also losing images at the same time. Through the dog’s point of view, we can see some of the images we lost, or even we haven’t noticed part of the city.

Our device was design to fit on a small dog’s back with two cameras pointing on different angles, along with minimized weight and maximized stability. With two supporting wheels on the ground, a dog can easily carry and walk with it.

In my video, I did not use any fancy effects at all, as I want the audience more focus on the video itself. I only did some colour correction, changed the colour to black and white, because as I know dogs can’t see colour. I also put both cameras’ footages on one screen, as only one camera’s footage was too narrow to represent the dog’s point of view. Another reason is when the dog looks up, it’s head can easily block the bottom camera, so the top part of the video can represent the dog’s point of view when dog looks up.
